Description
The KochKulturMuseum takes you on a journey of discovery through the history of cooking!

In this cooking course, we leaf through the cookbooks of our ancestors. The KochKulturMuseum’s collection includes several handwritten cookbooks from the 19th and early 20th centuries. They contain a variety of recipes, recorded both as a practical aid for cooking and as a legacy for future generations. In this way, family cooking traditions were preserved and passed on.
Why are these cookbooks hardly used anymore today? They are written in Kurrentschrift (old German cursive). After a quick crash course in Kurrent, we will first transcribe selected recipes into Latin script and then cook them. The recipes will be chosen according to what’s in season.
After the cooking course, we’ll enjoy the menu together at a beautifully set table.e are happy to accommodate dietary preferences and needs! Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or have food intolerances, we can offer alternative dishes—just let us know in advance.
Beginning is at 03:00 PM
